NBA!!

Ok, I know my last post was about a week ago. I also know that I said something about losing money on the NBA season. Boy was I ever wrong!! 11-2 in the first week of the NBA. Over 80%! People should be paying me for MY picks! Here's a quick look..

11/1/08 Portland 96 @ Phoenix 107
-took Suns -9 W

11/2/08 Milwaukee 94 @ NYN 86
-took over 215.5 L

11/3/08 3 team Parlay
Bulls 93 @ Orlando 96 took under 196 W
Utah 89 @ LAC 73 Utah -275 W
GS 79 @ Mem 90 Memphis +110 W

11/4/08 Boston 103 @ Houston 99
-took Boston +130 W

11/4/08 Dal 98 @ Spurs 81
-took Spurs -175 L

11/4/08 PHX 114 @ NJN 86
-took the under 201 W

11/5/08 Chi 93 @ Cavs 107
-took Cavs -9 W

11/5/08 LAC 88 @ LAL 106
-took over 193.5 W

11/5/08 Den 101 @ GS 111
-took over 206.5 W

11/6/08 Phi 88 @ Orl 98
-took Orlando -5 W

11/6/08 Hou 99 @ Portland 101
-took the over 188

So, as you can see I was 11-2 in week one...I've given up football for the rest of the year after TCU's kicker missed 2 FG's in a 3 minute span in the 4th qtr which cost TCU the game and also my TCU -1.5 and under 42.5 parlay. That's fine. I'll just keep riding the NBA to financial freedom! Just kidding....but seriously, if anyone wants my picks each day you know where to find me...or just leave a comment on where to reach you! Good luck!!

NBA Season

Never ever, ever, ever take S Florida when they're on the road. I have lived by this rule for the past 3 years and went against it on Thursday...bad idea. Although, I will say, all websites had Cincinnati starting a rookie QB for his 1st start and they come out with the dude who broke his arm a week or 2 ago with a cast on! Dude was spectacular. Anyway...
The NBA season is upon us and that gives us more chances to lose ( i mean make) money. 2 days in and I'm 2 games up...no big deal. I love New Orleans and I love the Rockets, even though they scare me a bit with their ability to score sometimes. I also love anyone playing the Nets and Bobcats...We'll see. Check back tomorrow for my CFB and NFL picks; some big time upsets may be brewin'....

Friday, Oct 24

A few games I like this weekend...

Oct 24
Boise St @ San Jose St (+7.5)
-I think San Jose St covers here. Boise will win, but they play some close games on the road and these 2 teams rank 1 & 2 in the WAC in defense. I'm feelin 21-17 or something along those lines, not too high scoring and maybe a special teams or defensive TD in there somewhere.

Saturday, Oct 25

Wake Forest @ Miami, FL
-Miami -2.5...Wake's no good on the road

BC @ UNC
-take the under 42.5 here. Low scoring; BC's offense is struggling this year and UNC's "O" has backtracked since the loss of Tate.

E Michigan @ Ball St
-Ball St -25.5...I normally don't like conference games with lines this big, but Ball St is good and they have the best QB nobody is talking about in Nate Davis.

BYU @ UNLV
-Over 56 in this one. BYU is pissed about last weeks loss and will take it out on the Rebs. I think UNLV will put up a few TD's themselves...hence the over.

OK St @ Texas
-OK St is having a great season no doubt. But noone is playing better than Texas right now. The beat Oklahoma then came back and bounced back and pounded Mizzou when a lot of people didn't think they could. A high scoring affair but Texas covers the 12 they're giving to the Cowboys for sure. TX wins 45-30

TX Tech @ Kansas
-simple...over 67...

"Either roll with me or get rolled over...Cha Ching!"
-Frank

On another note...the captain obvious stat of the week from Sportsbook.com. TX Tech is 92-69 in all games played on Saturday since 1992...No SHIT!!! Texas Tech plays college football on Saturday? No idea. Idiots there at Sportsbook. First they don't pay out, then they lock you out of your account when you win big and now their spectacular research team comes up with this stat! Two words for them...BetJamaica!!

Good Luck! BOOYA!!!!

Monday night...

Denver (+120) @ New England (-140)
-I'm thinkin Denver with the money tonight. New England showed us last week that they're just not the same without Mr. Brady. Denver shold have their way with the Pats Db's and Marshall and Royal (if fully healthy) should have big games. NE is tough at home, but it'll be cold and the Broncos are used to that. Also, Shanahan has owned Mr. Hooded Sweatshirt the last few years. Maybe I'm just quick to dis the Pats after last weeks horrible game in SD, but I don't think so. Denver is good. The Pats are mediocre. Playing at home should make it fairly close (7pts), but look for Denver to be victorious.

Good Luck! BOOYA!!!!

oh yeah, also Rays in 6....

wow...

At least the Bears have a quarterback...The defense couldn't stop Matt Ryan or ANY of the Falcons receivers to save their lives! After the Bears scored to take the lead with 11 seconds left why not kick it deep? I realize that the Falcons just returned one to the Bears' 20 the last time, but you can't just give them the ball at the 40 only needing 20-25 yds for a realistic FG attempt. Especially with Jason Elam. The guy has made clutch kick after clutch kick his entire career, and he's kicking in a dome! Even after the short kick though, what were our Db's doing all day? Tillman got hurt and didn't finish the game, but they were horrible even with him. And with 11 11 seconds left just line up 5 Db's about 20 yds away and just make sure they don't get past you!!! Unbelievable....The only bright spot in the game was obviously Orton and the game he played. Maybe people will stop describing him as managing games and playing not to lose. Also, maybe this is the game when Devin Hester finally showed he can be a pretty good receiver. He made some nice catches and ran great routes all day long. Lets root for Seattle now so we can stay in first in the NFC North.

-In a toss-up with the Dodgers/Phillies tonight. On one hand I like the Dodgers coming back home and Kuroda on the mound. On the other hand Jamie Moyer just may be mediocre enough to frustrate the young Dodger hitters all night. Being young, they may pull a Cubs and press all night long trying to do too much against the Lefty just floatin' balls up there...Also, with all the Phillies left handed hitters they might have a big night. So, i guess I don't really have a pick here, but some good info for you to make up your own mind!

NE @ SD Chargers
-Chargers...

Good luck! BOOYA!!

Phillies and Wake Forest....

BOOYA!

Monday, Oct 6

Yes, I'm still alive after yet another Cubs collapse in the post-season. A Cubs fan living in L.A. it's pretty brutal right now...but i've also learned over the years how to deal with it and move on. There's always next year...

Today

Tampa Bay Rays (+121) @ White Sox
-Rays win in a low scoring affair and move on to the ALCS...a long baseball winter in Chicago...at least the Bears are surprising people in a good way!

Angels @ Red Sox
-Like the Sawx to close out this series as well...wouldn't it be something if the Dodgers meet the Red Sox in the WS? Manny going back to Fenway? Interesting...

MNF
Vikings @ Saints
-Like the Saints. Minnesota's defense hasn't lived up to expectations and they are getting nothing from the quarterback position. The Saints just keep putting up pts even with a load of injuries. I think they'll score almost at will if they can give Brees time. Even as suspect as the Saints D is I still don't think the Vikings will score with them. Saints 33-20.

Good Luck! BOOYA!!

Oct 2, 2008

3 college games tonight.

Pitt @ S Florida (-13)
-S Florida in this one.  I think Pitt will try and keep the ball away from the Bulls but I also don't think they will.  Pitt won't score either.  S FL wins 31-13

Oregon St @ Utah
-Utah wins 35-20

I also like the Rays to win today big.

Good Luck!  BOOYA!!

Payoffs? !

Is there anything better than the MLB playoffs?  I mean for like 2 weeks we get games for 9 straight hours!  Every pitch & at bat as intense as any during the regular season.  We have the Rays, the freakin' Tampa Bay "Devil" Rays, in the playoffs and winners of the AL East.  The Milwaukee Brewers, with help from the Mets of course, in for the first time in 26 years!  As much as I can't stand them it's good for the game and for the NL Central.  And as much as I hate them it's pretty special what the White Sox did to make it.  They had to win 3 games in 3 days against 3 different teams just to get in.  Talk about some pressure packed games!  And is there any better matchup than the Cubs/Dodgers?  Lou Pinella vs Joe Torre.  Two of the most storied franchises in all of sports.  That all being said here we go with some picks...

Milwaukee @ Philadelphia
-Gotta go with the Phils in game 1.  Gallardo has been hurt all season and only made 1 start since May 3rd.  Hamels on the other hand has been solid all year.  Phils should be a huge favorite in this one and rightfully so.

Dodgers @ CUBS
-Being a die-hard Cubs fan I will not be making any predictions for any of their games.  Sorry...

Red Sox @ Angels
-I'm thinking Boston takes the first game of this series.  A slight underdog, I think Lester outdules Lackey.  Lackey is either really good or really bad, there's not much in between with him.  Plus, the Sox just have the Angels number the last few years.

Oct 2

White Sox @ Devil Rays
-Yes I'm still calling them the Devil Rays and yes I pick them in game 1.  This team is rested and ready to go, especially at home.  The Sox don't play well on the road or in domes and this is a double whammy for them.  The Rays may win big so the +1.5 looks good to me.

That's how I see things for game 1...

Good Luck...BOOYA!!

Sunday Funday!

What a crazy Saturday...didn't do too bad with the picks. Missed the under in 'Bama/Georgia and Wake losing surprised everyone, but so did USC, Florida, Georgia, Clemson etc....Anyway we did call the Va Tech "upset" so we still have some to play with for today's NFL action...And away we go!

49'ers @ New Orleans
-the over 48 is looking good here. The Saints will score and the niners should have no problem throwing up at least 20 against a pretty poor Saints "D."

Denver @ KC
-the Broncos should smash the Chiefs...

Cleveland @ Cincinnati
-Both are underachieving. But both should score on each other in this one. Like the over 44 here.

Arizona @ NYJ
-Another over (44) I like here. The Jets need to win this one to prove that they're "for real?" Arizona is able to put up pts in bunches and I think they will...The problem for them is I think so will the J. E. T. S Jets Jets Jets

Some to watch out for...

Watch Atlanta @ Carolina...The Falcons at +240 could be a decent pick as could Houston (+250) @ Jacksonville. The Panthers and Jags could be overlooking they're conference foes this week...just sayin'

Good Luck!

Bye!! BOOYA!!

What a weekend!

What a weekend for college football...got off to a rough/surprising start last night with the Beavers munchin' on the trojans! The Beavers let in the Trojans but wouldn't let 'em finish! Hmm, that sounds all too familiar...Anyway, on to the weekend where we're gonna find out just who is for real (Illinois, 'Bama, Auburn, UNC, MI St, Oklahoma, TX) the list goes on and on. But here we go....

Sept 27, 2008

Alabama @ Georgia
-Take the under (44) in this one. Gonna be a slug fest between a good team and a really good team. 'Bama wants to keep it low scoring and they will. They're too good for Georgia to force a lot of turnovers and take a big lead. The clock will be 'Bama's friend. I think Georgia eventually wins but in a close, low-scoring game. Dawgs 17-13

Navy @ Wake Forest
-Wake is a lock to cover the 16 they're being given. They are good. Don't be surprised if they are this years Hawaii or Boise St. I know they're in a big conference but they're not a football school. Well, not until now anyway. Wake 41-21

Tennessee @ Auburn
-Auburn will win. I'm not sold on them by any means but I'm also not confident in Tennessee. I mean if Auburn can win a game 3-2 then anything is possible. Take Auburn @ -270. Should be a lock at home.

Ole Miss @ Florida
-Florida is good...really really good. -22

Pitt @ Syracuse
-Look for Syracuse to cover the 14.5 they're given. Everytime I underestimate them they've screwed me so I'll go with them this week against a Pitt team I'm not thrilled about. I like Pitt to win but close. Pitt 24-17

Some to think about...
Illinois +15 @ Penn St. Is Penn St that good? Is Illinois that good? We'll find out. Tough one, but a lot of pts to give to a ranked team.

Minnesota +19.5 @ Ohio St. Has Ohio St impressed anyone yet? Not me. Couple that with Chris "Beanie" Wells coming off an injury and I think you have a fairly close one. Minnesota is better than people think and they're for sure better than Ohio. Look for the Gophers to cover the 19.

Twins and Indians win also...

"!!Upset" Alert!!
Virginia Tech (+230) @ Nebraska...just sayin'

That's it.

Bye!! BOOYA!!

Sept. 25, 2008

USC!!!!

Bye!!  Booya!!

Sept 24, 2008

Well, not so bad for the first day...2-2, batting .500. Should have been 3-1 if that combacker to Marshall doesn't hit the broken bat and bounce into right field the Cubs get out of the 5th w/ no runs and probably hold on to beat the Mets. Oh well....Nats and Seattle winning kept you ahead for the day.
Here we go...

Sept. 24

Braves (Reyes) @ Phillies (Meyers)
-Take the Phils (-270) in this one. Bret Meyers has been solid in his last 9 starts with the only exception being his last one against Florida. Other than that game he hasn't given up more than 3 runs a start. The Braves counter with Jo Jo Reyes who has lost his last 10 and they haven't been close. The Phillies are still fighting for the playoffs and will have no problem against the Braves at home.

Cleveland (Carmona) @ Red Sox (Byrd)
-I like Boston in this one. They just clinched a playoff spot last night and could suffer from a slight hangover. I think they still want to win the division and will come out with guns drawn. Paul Byrd is going against his old team and I give that advantage to the pitcher. Fausto Carmona has been getting hit around pretty good in his last 10-12 starts. Even in his wins he's given up 5+ runs multiple times. This could be a high scoring game.

Yankees (Hughes) @ Toronto (Burnett)
-I like the over (8.5, -120) in this one. I just think that after a 3-1 game the night before that both will come out strong. The Yankees are just playing for pride at this point and the Blue Jays want to finish above the Yanks in the division to feel good going into next year. I'm thinking 11-8...

Good Luck! Booya!!

Season...2-2

Sept. 23, 2008

Welcome to ShuDog's Picks! Each day I'll sit down and give my picks for the day for Baseball, Football and soon, Basketball. I'll cover college and pro and do my best to give insight on certain games. I have a proven track record that I cannot prove, but will do my best to pay your bills! So sit back, enjoy and watch your pockets get fat! Booya!

Sept. 23

Marlins (Olsen) @ Nationals (Martis)
-I like the Nats in this one (+114) being at home and everytime I've had a feeling with them in the last month they've come through. Olsen beat the Nats in Florida against Martis 10 days ago 6-1. A solid outing for both starting pitchers in that game. Martis struck out 9 and the bullpen blew it from the 6th on.

Cubs (Marshall) @ NY Mets (Santana)
-Like the Cubs to cover the 1.5 (+105) in this one. Santana is good, real good, especially in his last 10 outings or so. The Cubs counter with Sean Marshall who has been pretty solid himself his last 3 starts. The Mets are feeling the pressure of repeating last years collapse and missing the playoffs. The Cubs will counter Santana with a heavy right hand hitting lineup including Reed Johnson who is hitting .546 lifetime against Santana. Mets may win, but not by more than a run.

NY Yankees (Mussina) @ Toronto (Litsch)
-Take the Jays (+107). NY is still emotional after last nights final game in Yankee Stadium and travelling north of the border won't help. Litsch has been good lately. He went throught a rough stretch in July but was solid in August & Sept not giving up more than 3 ER in any start.

Angels (Weaver) @ Seattle (Feierabend)
-This is my upset special for the day. Seattle has lost 12 in a row and they've gotta break that sometime right? I say the Angels, with nothing really to play for now, tank this one and Seattle wins 9-3....

Good Luck!! Booya!!
